In opposite to the questionable suggestion by Sayre (1971) it seems almost certain that the editor is Andrew Pritchard (1804-1882). He was a well known microscopist and naturalist. In his book "Microscopic objects, animal, vegetable and mineral ..," London (1847) he published a list of 42 genera of mosses suitable for microscopic studies. |
